She tells us why she and 200 parents and educators took over the NYC DOE meeting on October 26th to have their voices heard. She basically tells the story of WHATS HAPPENING NOW in Pennsylvania with public education has already happened in New York State. We also talk about how critical labor education is and then expand on the Occupy movement as a whole. She says she joined the occupy movement(she's a member of the education and labor committees at Occupy Wall Street) because "If we don't enlist in this fight then we'll continue to see a systematic erosion of the rights of our students." We both agree that need to keep this up, as hard as it is, because we are starting to change the national dialogue and already we see student loan reform. She also brings up that this is a global movement and "it's really important that this action took place when and where it did. [It's important] for people to think locally, globally, and nationally." Like I've been saying for 6 years we're all in this together.
